Mechanical conveyors move bulk solids by physically carrying or pushing them — with a screw, a belt or a bucket. Where the route is fixed and the distance known, this is the most energy-efficient way to move material.

The three products divide by geometry rather than by industry. Screw conveyors handle short to medium distances in a fully enclosed path, horizontally, inclined or vertically, and are the standard for silo discharge and equipment feeding. Belt conveyors carry material over distance at the lowest energy cost per tonne. Bucket elevators lift vertically in the smallest possible footprint.
Screw conveyors also sit on the boundary with mixing: change the flight geometry from standard pitch to cut, cut-and-folded or paddle flights, and the machine progressively becomes a continuous mixer. Where transport and blending can happen in one run, that saves a machine.
