Agitator Mixer

Behpoo agitator mixers keep liquids, slurries and suspensions homogeneous in drums, IBCs and tanks. Seven impeller types cover everything from water-thin solvents to high-viscosity pastes.

An agitator mixer drives an impeller on a shaft to circulate the contents of a vessel — re-suspending settled solids, homogenising layers, dispersing powder into liquid or holding an emulsion stable.

Impeller choice is the whole decision. Axial impellers — marine propeller, hydrofoil, folding — pump the fluid up and down the vessel with low shear, which is what most blending and suspension duties need. Radial impellers — Rushton turbine, dispersion disc — create an intense shear zone, which is what dispersion, emulsification and gas distribution need.

Mounting is the second decision. On a closed drum, the unit threads into the 2-inch bung and a folding impeller passes through the opening. On an open drum a rim clamp is used; on larger vessels, a stand or lift.

One detail matters more than it looks: a drum has no baffles, so a centrally mounted vertical agitator makes the liquid rotate as a body and mix nothing. Behpoo mounts drum agitators off-centre and angled.

Benefits & Features

  • Seven impeller types from very low to very high shear
  • Folding impeller passing through a 2-inch bung opening
  • Off-centre angled mounting against vortex formation
  • Viscosity range from water to several thousand centipoise
  • Air-driven and electric drives, including ATEX execution
  • SS304 and SS316 wetted parts

Areas & Application

Paint, Resin & Coatings

Keeping pigment in suspension and dispersing powder into resin, using dispersion discs at high tip speed.

Chemicals & Solvents

Homogenising drums of chemical product in ATEX execution with air-driven motors where electrical equipment is restricted.

Lubricants & Oils

Re-blending separated additives in drums and IBCs before dispensing.

Slurries & Suspensions

Preventing settlement in mineral and chemical slurries with axial impellers sized for suspension duty.

Agrochemicals

Homogenising drum contents before decanting or dosing into the process.

Food & Cosmetics

Emulsification and blending in SS316 execution with polished wetted parts.
